The very rare pink iguana species of the Galapagos Islands is getting some extra attention by the scientific and research community.

Scientists and park rangers are looking into the need and possibility of creating a captive breeding program for the critically endangered species.

Found only on Wolf Volcano, on Isabela Island in the Galapagos, the pink iguana is at risk due to a low population and that they reside on an active volcano, which erupted in 2015!

This is one species that will be happy to have El Nino visit the islands, as more plants and flowers will surely benefit their diet and success rates of reproducing.
