Galakiwi Supports Travelers Against Plastic (Tap)
Disposable plastic water bottles are one of the most wasteful products that travelers can easily eliminate from their travel footprint.
Plastic garbage isn’t just a big issue in sensitive ecosystems like here in the Galapagos Islands, it is a global issue. Galakiwi provides our travelers with access to water stations in our offices and at hotels that we use throughout our tours. By eliminating plastic waste, and using refillable water bottles, it is one way we operate our tours in a sustainable manner.
Our push to remove plastic water bottles began before we knew about TAP, but once we heard about their passion for sustainable tourism, we had to sign up and be a travel partner for their great cause.
Wherever you go, bring along a refillable water bottle. You’ll personally eliminate hundreds of water bottles that would otherwise end up in landfills, and you’ll feel good every time you refill your own bottle!
So easy, so right…what are you waiting for? Why not visit the Travellers Against Plastic website, and take your pledge against plastic: http://www.travelersagainstplastic.org
Even when you’re out roughing it, there are many alternatives to one-time use plastics. The TAP website lists a number of great products to consider using when you don’t have easy access to clean water. Ultraviolet light, purification tablets and even travel-size filtration systems take up next to no space in your pack, and can ensure you have a safe supply of drinking water wherever you are in the world!
